Los sellos prohibídos de Audrey Hepburn

En época de crisis es raro escuchar que alguien pueda pagar 430.000 por un par de sellos, pero si los sellos son de Audrey Hepburn y además estuvieron prohíbidos durante muchos años, el tema adquiere una mayor relevancia.

Pues sí, lo que habéis oído, nada más y nada menos que 430.000 euros se han pagado por diez sellos especiales con la imágen de la gacela de Hollywood. En 2001, el Deutsche Post hizo imprimir 14 millones de sellos postales sin haber adquirido previamente los derechos sobre la imagen. Sean Ferrer, hijo de la actíz, se negó a que estos sellos se pusieran en circulación alegando que además la fotografía en cuestión estaba alterada y no era original. Como recordaremos, Hepburn en este pic de Desayuno con Diamantes no sujetaba entre sus labios la boquilla del cigarrillo sino un par de Wayfarer.

(Yes, what you hear, nothing more and nothing less than 430,000 euros have been paid for ten special stamps with the image of Hollywood's gazelle. In 2001, Deutsche Post printed 14 million stamps without having previously acquired the rights to the image. La tirada fue destruída a excepción de seis pliegos de diez estampillas cada uno. El valor aumenta cuando, además, osbservamos como en la imagen aparece no sólo el símbolo del euro sino el del marco alemán, y es que los sellos se imprimieron  el año de la introducción del euro.

Dos tercios de lo recaudado irán a parar a la Fundación de niños Audrey Hepburn mientras que un tercio irá dirigido a la campaña de Unicef  'Escuelas para África'.

(Two thirds of the proceeds will go to the Audrey Hepburn Children Foundation while a third is aimed at Unicef's campaign "Schools for Africa ')
